This is the SIMPLE_SYNTH patch. A Max/MSP synthsizer designed to create straight-forward waveforms; inspired by the fabulous ARP 2500 synth sounds in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Dir:Steven Spielberg, with Richard Dreyfuss, Score:John Williams)
The first version of the SIMPLE_SYNTH had a (polyphonic) single sine-wave oscillator, and an ADSR (Attack Decay Sustain Release) amplitude envelope. Later versions added an inbuilt digital-delay, then two extra oscillators (tri & square), a way to use multiple patch instances & access the synth parameters for automation; and finally, a multi-type modulating filter, responsive to velocity & frequency.
This patch was designed for my Human/Computer Collaboration module, to work with various algorithmic composition patches.
